Zoetrope (ゾートロープ Zōtorōpu) is a short story from volume SII of the light novel series. It was also published in the fifth volume of Ayato Sasakura's manga adaptation. Unlike the other short stories, it combines prose chapters by Yashichirō Takahashi with manga chapters illustrated by Ayato Sasakura. It involves the girl (later named Shana) who was in training with a veteran Flame Haze named Sophie Sawallisch in a certain country in Europe. The story takes place shortly after the events of volume 5 but prior to Verger and Overture.
