The Tyrant (暴君 Bōkun?) is something that was deeply related to Bal Masqué's Grand Order and concealed from others. It was a tool for manufacturing a substitute body for the God of Creation Snake of the Festival to move freely in this world after being banished in the Eternal Pitfall, using a Virtual Aggregate Will produced from resonating with his will as its core. Two Tyrants existed, Crystallization of Self-Research 13274 - Tyrant I (我学の結晶13274-暴君I Gagaku no Kesshō 13274 - Bōkun I?) and Crystallization of Self-Research 13274 - Tyrant II (我学の結晶13274-暴君II Gagaku no Kesshō 13274 - Bōkun II?), but they were originally one.

Background[]

Tyrant I[]

Tyrant I is what the Reiji Maigo transformed into after the Psalm of the Grand Order was driven into it by "Destructive Blade" Sabrac. As it was planned for the two Tyrants to be unified again, it was identical in appearance to Tyrant II and incorporated all of its functions, though most of them were dormant prior to unification.

The Psalm of the Grand Order inserted into the Reiji Maigo had had its Reflective Transfer function restructured. It's not known to what extent its nature was changed but due to that Unrestricted Spell Insignia, the core of Tyrant I inside the Reiji Maigo gained the ability to receive Personality Reflections sent by Tyrant II, and therefore innumerable Personality Reflections would continue to be copied to the Reiji Maigo. This would serve as groundwork for the unification of Tyrants I and II.

No matter how far away they were, as the two were once one, it was naturally drawn to Tyrant II.

Tyrant II[]

Second Ep 16 Bokun

Tyrant II in the anime.

Tyrant II was the main body of the two Tyrants and referred to the silver-colored, dirty, and warped suit of plate armor which was stored along with the Conloquium inside Seireiden's Greater Bottom Facility (機関大底部?). When it was created, countless Psalm of the Grand Order Unrestricted Spell Insignias were inserted into it. It was suspended in a crucifix position in a cavity in the middle of a large tree-like pillar of interwoven machinery, with cords and pipes connected to it and many tags stuck on it.

Tyrant II had two purposes. The first was to be the physical aspect of the Leader's substitute body, and to this end Professor Dantalion claimed it could be freely remodeled and any number of functions could be added to it. The second was to collect every kind of human emotion and accompanying behavior to complete the Virtual Aggregate Will needed to express Snake of the Festival's consciousness, as its initial "blank" state was not sufficient. It was able to Manifest multiple times and was usually collecting emotion samples through copies of itself created from Reflective Transfer. Margery Daw once encountered Reflective Transfer and believed it to be a Denizen with a silver Flame, pursuing it for several hundred years seeking revenge. As a result of the accumulation of emotions over a long period of time, pseudo-conversations could be conducted with it and transfers for reasons other than collecting emotions began being conducted several decades before the Reiji Maigo was discovered.

Unification[]

The first stage of the Grand Order was for the two Tyrants to unify and for the armor Tyrant II to house the completed Virtual Aggregate Will and become the substitute body of Snake of the Festival, with Tyrant I only being its energy source. However, following the intentions of Snake of the Festival himself, who took an interest in Yūji Sakai through the Virtual Aggregate Will while it was still being constructed, the two Tyrants were unified while still retaining the form of the Mystes Yūji Sakai. Yūji Sakai's Aggregate Will and Snake of the Festival's Virtual Aggregate Will constructed from Psalm of the Grand Order coexisted using the same system as the two Tyrants existing together, and the armor Tyrant II became a supportive armament for "Snake of the Festival" Yūji Sakai, making use of its multiple Manifestation function.

Plot[]

Second Ep 15 Bokun Yuji

The arm and head of Tyrant II transferred to Yūji.

The right arm (left in the anime) and head of Tyrant II were transferred to Yūji Sakai due to "Colorful Wave" Pheles meddling with the Reiji Maigo, which had become Tyrant I. Pheles had abnormally stimulated the incomplete Virtual Aggregate Will, causing the two Tyrants to pull each other and begin an imperfect unification. This event also made it clear that the Virtual Aggregate Will itself, which was meant to be completed within the distorted plate armor Tyrant II, was being transferred to Tyrant I, which had been created due to Sabrac.

The countless Personality Reflections that had been continuously copied to Tyrant I via the Psalm of the Grand Order driven into it by Sabrac eventually bonded together, allowing the Virtual Aggregate Will to reflect Snake of the Festival's will. The "Absorption" insignia needed for Tyrants to continue to materialize and act freely during Reflective Transfers was meant to be dormant within Tyrant I, but was somehow still in operation. Lamies diagnosed that the Absorption insignia had affected the Reiji Maigo's Kaikin. This was actually a result of an intentional change by "Eternal Lover" Johann while he was sealed inside the Reiji Maigo.

As a result of the Professor being destroyed by Seere Habichtsburg, the Tyrant ceased functioning along with Dragon Tail.[1][2] It took Yūji several years to reactivate both the Tyrant and Dragon Tail.[3]

In the anime[]

In the second season of the anime, the substitute body of Snake of the Festival was not mentioned. The Tyrant was used as the core of the plate-armored giant Statue of Pride, which used emotions collected by the Faux Vessel Fumina Konoe as its brain, the Reiji Maigo pulled out of Yūji Sakai as its heart, and the Misaki Clock Tower as its exoskeleton. It was able to operate the giant and also independently fight inside it, but was defeated by Shana and Yūji and abandoned inside the Statue of Pride, which collapsed after the Reiji Maigo was pulled out of it.
