Shana and Yūji no Naze Nani Shana Nandemo Shitsumon-bako Special - Preparation and Review Edition (シャナ&悠二のなぜなにシャナ なんでも質問箱スペシャル 予習復習編 Shana & Yūji no Naze Nani Shana Nandemo Shitsumon-bako Supesharu Yoshū Fukushū-hen ) is a special featured on the "Shakugan no Shana The Movie Just Before Screening Special!" DVD. It is similar to the Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana! series, except the hosts are Shana and Yūji Sakai.
Summary[]
Yūji was happy that he and Shana were going to be in a movie, but Shana wanted him to stay serious for the battle that awaited. Shana wanted to conduct some knowledge training for Yūji on the enemy so that he would understand battles more. She asked her first question: "What is the Crimson Realm?", and Yūji answered that it was another world which existed adjacent to this one and couldn't be reached on foot. Yūji explained next that Crimson Denizens were beings from the Crimson Realm who devoured the Power of Existence of humans.
Shana then changed the subject to Flame Haze. Flame Haze were humans who had entered contracts with Crimson Lords in order to gain power necessary to defeat Denizens who were laying waste to the world. Crimson Lords were powerful brethren of Denizens. Yūji also added that Shana had formed a contract with "Flame of Heaven" Alastor, who is special among Lords.
Shana asked the reason why Flame Haze destroy Denizens, and Yūji answered that they do so to get rid of the Distortion of the World. Shana then asked why those Distortions occur, which made Yūji complain about the multitude of questions in succession. When a human's Power of Existence is devoured, their existence disappears from the past in which they lived and from the future. The impact of something ceasing to exist is great, and this causes a distortion in the world. Shana gave Yūji a 60% mark for his answer, which he felt was harsh.
Shana's next question was about the methods used by Denizens to escape Flame Haze pursuit. Yūji knew this well; after Denizens devour a human's Power of Existence, they create a Torch as a substitute for that person. Stopping himself from saying "leftovers", Yūji explained that Torches were made from the little remaining Power of Existence that wasn't devoured, and therefore they have the same memories and personality the person had while alive. The flame inside Yūji was proof that he was a Torch. The existence of Torches gradually fades away, so others around them don't notice them disappearing. This results in the impact to the world being smaller, and therefore it will be harder for Flame Haze to find Denizens, as they rely on Distortions to do so. Yūji was correct, and Shana had been surprised when she came to this city, as there were so many Torches present and the Distortion of the World could be sensed.
Shana had come to the city because of the Distortion she felt and discovered several Rinne gathering an excessive amount of power. Rinne were minions created by Denizens, like the monsters who attacked Yūji within the Fūzetsu. Due to them controlling high-level Rinne and being gluttonous enough to create countless Torches, Shana theorized that it was a Lord and not a Denizen who was hiding in the city.
Shana wanted Yūji to explain the Fūzetsu. The Fūzetsu was a dome-shaped barrier which detached the causality of the area inside it from the area outside it. It was a mysterious technique, an Unrestricted Spell. Inside a Fūzetsu, everything is frozen except for beings involved with the Crimson Realm, such as Denizens and Flame Haze. For Denizens, who rampage around the world as they please, it is an indispensable power and location. Fūzetsu were also convenient for Flame Haze, who did not want to disturb the world, so it had become a custom for the two parties to fight within them.
Yūji wanted some praise for all his answers, but Shana stated that they had only covered the basics and wanted him to train all night. She complained that Yūji did not have enough of a sense of danger, seeing as he was a special Torch who housed a Treasure Tool targeted by Denizens. This kind of Torch was called a Mystes. They didn't know what was inside Yūji, but many Denizens would target his Treasure Tool, as Treasure Tools allow anyone to create a specific phenomenon by simply possessing them.
Shana vowed to train Yūji mercilessly until the release date of the movie and asked him whether theaters sold melonpan. Yūji suggested they could find out by going to see the movie with Ike and Yoshida. Yūji and Shana bid farewell to the audience.
Trivia[]
- Before Shana's training, Yūji quoted the proverb "Know yourself as well as your enemy...", from The Art of War.
