Day of the Clash III (激突の日 III Gekitotsu no Hi III) is the 49th chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
After Sorath blew their cover, the Denizen group proceeded with their plans and confronted the nearby Flame Haze.
Summary[]
As Sorath stared greedily at a mecha action figure set on a shelf in a department store, Tiriel asked Sydonay what he had wanted to say earlier about the Flame Haze's presence. Sydonay said that while they had been setting traps in a wide area since yesterday, he had felt a big presence the entire time, but didn't think the presence had figured out Tiriel's Cradle Garden, as they hadn't taken any action. He thought it was a strange case, but didn't get to finish talking as a little boy took the action figure set from the shelf to show his mother, wanting her to buy it. The mother noticed Sorath, but still dragged the boy away and went to buy the toy. Sorath asked for Tiriel's permission, which she gave thinking he wanted to buy something, but in an instant he had donned his armor and cleaved the boy in two with Blutsauger. Before the mother could scream, she was sliced in two as well.
As the shop customers screamed, Sorath converted the mother and child into Power of Existence and devoured them. He spotted the action figure set, but it was crumpled and covered in blood. No longer desiring it, he chucked it away. Tiriel scolded him for not setting up a Fūzetsu first, but he didn't know how to make one. Sydonay thought that they would now be noticed by the nearby Flame Haze as Cradle Garden stopped their presence from leaking, but didn't make them undetectable if a searching Unrestricted Spell was used. Tiriel thought that there was no use hiding, saying that they should begin their plan even though it wasn't prepared fully. She told Sydonay to make a big fire and gave him permission to devour the customers. Sydonay transformed his arms into tiger-like heads and devoured everyone on the shopping floor with them and set the floor ablaze. Tiriel thought of it as a beautiful signal for the coming battle, and she and Sorath left to greet the nearby Flame Haze, who was assumed to be the one with the Nietono no Shana.
Margery was with Tanaka and Satō, messing around in a musical instrument shop when she felt the Denizens at the department store. She was very irritated that their time of peace was disturbed, and told the boys to go to the Crystal Altar. They were surprised, as Margery had said that Denizens would no longer come to Misaki City. They didn't know if they would be useful to Margery, but she scolded them to follow her instructions, as she never expected them to help her fight. She placed a little flame on their foreheads before they left running, telling her to do her best and to be careful. Margery giggled at their words, thinking they were good subordinates.

Outside, Margery saw the burning department store. She had doubts about her ability to stop the Denizens in her current state, but Marchosias stated that the fight had come to her. A single leaf floated in front of Margery's face, and she leapt back as it exploded upon touching the ground. She noticed many leaves floating around her and realized that it wasn't a Fūzetsu but a presence concealment Unrestricted Spell. The people around Margery were converted into Power of Existence as Tiriel, Sorath and Sydonay appeared before her.

- The set of three toy robots that Sorath eyed in the department store is a reference to the Ultra-Light Warriors in the TV show Choukou Senshi Changéríon. The set is depicted with the word "Ultra-Light" and coming from a TV show with a similar name to Changéríon. Shakugan no Shana author Yashichirō Takahashi often makes references to Changéríon.
