A Battle for Today I (今日という日は戦い I Kyō to iu Hi wa Tatakai I) is the 33rd chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
It became evident to Yoshida and the other classmates that Shana and Yūji had made up. Margery believed she could finally chase down Lamies with the help of the Crystal Altar.
Summary[]
Walking to school, Yūji asked Shana what they would do that day. Shana believed that Margery would use an Unrestricted Spell to search for Lamies like she had done yesterday. After they found Lamies, Shana would rush over to him and fight Margery again. She told Yūji to be ready and smiled when he agreed. Yūji again thought to himself that he would grow stronger for Shana.

Before school started, Ike and Yoshida were in the classroom, with Ike calling Satō's house on his mobile phone. Satō told Ike that he and Tanaka would again be absent from school that day, due to urgent business. Satō heard Margery moaning from her hangover and left the telephone to go to her. Margery was hungover, rolling around on the floor with loud ringing in her head, and was moaning about wanting to die. Marchosias was having fun, refusing to use the Purifying Flame on her. Satō and Tanaka wanted to be nice to her, but Marchosias stated that she would then drink that night like she had done last night, leaving the boys in agreement about leaving Margery alone. Margery took this as a betrayal.
With no answer, Ike eventually hung up. He told Yoshida about Satō and Tanaka not coming to school. They would miss a test in literature class. Ike commented that he would have to write his notes out again for them, making a joke about their handwriting, which made Yoshida laugh. Ike watched her and wondered how her date with Yūji had gone. Yoshida noticed that Ike was blushing. Then, Shana entered the classroom and greeted them happily, shocking Ike. Yūji entered as well and asked Yoshida how her book cover was going. Yoshida watched as Shana and Yūji sat in their seats and talked happily, understanding that they had made up. She resolved to try harder.
On the roof of the Yoda Department Store, Margery talked to Satō and Tanaka, who were inside, through her flame. As she had been interrupted by the Flame Haze yesterday, this time she would explain to the boys their role in advance. Margery explained that for an average Denizen, after using an Unrestricted Spell to search for them, she could sense their presence as she approached. However, perhaps due to his parasitism of a Torch, Lamies' presence was extremely weak and couldn't be felt unless they were very close to him. Lamies would also move to a different location as soon as he was sensed, with his actual movement being undetectable. One time Margery had used 10 search spells in a row, and they had all detected Lamies in a different place. Margery believed this time would be different because she had the Snake of the Festival's Crystal Altar to figure out Lamies' trick. Margery told the boys to watch the Crystal Altar as she activated her detection spell.
Shana sensed Margery using her spell and stood up in the middle of Japanese history class. As the whole class stared at her, Shana told the scared teacher that she had an upset stomach and Yūji would walk her home, to the shock of Yoshida and the other students. Yūji was embarrassed by her bad acting skills but went to join her. As the teacher tried to object, Shana gave him some tips to improve his lesson. Once out of the class, Shana and Yūji began to run.

- Margery described her hangover as the ringing of the bells at Margaret, Giles and Clement in her head. These are all churches in London and are a reference to the nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons.
