Thinking at Night I (夜に想う I Yoru ni Omou I) is the 30th chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Parting ways with Lamies and Yoshida, Yūji returned home to find Shana.
Summary[]
At the front of the Atrium Arch, Yoshida thanked Lamies for showing them the art exhibit. Lamies appreciated having been able to converse with young people. Yūji said to Lamies that he would tell Shana about his situation. As they parted ways, Yūji wondered whether Shana was still fighting, whereas Lamies could sense that the fight had ended.

In front of Misaki City Station, Yoshida told Yūji that she needed to go somewhere else and would part ways with him. From her slightly sad expression, Yūji felt that she was lying to him. Yoshida smiled and said she had fun, and was glad that Yūji also had fun. She blushed and said she would like him to go somewhere with her again before leaving. Yūji thought that somehow he had hurt Yoshida as well, and wondered if he could improve himself one day.
As he returned home, Yūji was wondering whether Shana would come back when Alastor called out to him. Shana was sitting in the yard, injured, with her knees to her face. Yūji tried to ask what happened but Shana yelled at him. She stood up and shouted that it was his fault that she had lost the fight, because he hadn't wanted to go with her. Yūji embraced Shana, who was crying and saying that she wasn't frustrated or angry, but sad. Yūji thought that Shana really was like him, realizing for the first time how small and thin she was, and apologized to her. Shana grabbed Yūji's uniform with enough force for it to rip. She didn't want to feel this way, and pleaded for Yūji to get stronger. Yūji promised to become stronger, and asked her not to cry.
