Shana V (シャナ V ) is the twelfth chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Shana was invited into the house by Chigusa. Later, Yūji proposed a plan to lure out Friagne.
Summary[]

Shana smiling.
Shana and Yūji sat awkwardly at the dinner table in Yūji's house. Yūji's mother Chigusa had invited Shana inside and had mistaken her as Yūji's girlfriend. From Shana's perspective, she didn't know why Chigusa had invited in someone who was arguing with her son in the bushes next to their house. Yūji wondered why she would think a midget like Shana would be his girlfriend, but Alastor suspected that Yūji might have questionable tastes. Yūji went to his mother after she asked for help. She had made quite a lot of food, including omurice. Chigusa wanted to make a good impression on Shana. At the table, Chigusa told Shana that she could eat as much as she wanted, and that there would be dessert as well, which made Shana smile.
Later, Chigusa asked Shana to visit again as Yūji pretended to walk her home. Down a street, Shana said she would go to his house later before leaving atop the rooftops. Yūji shouted to her that he would keep his window open for her.

Alastor talking about Shana's contract.
On Yūji's roof, Shana confided to Alastor that she thought she wasn't living up to his true name and that she didn't have any violent emotion as a Flame Haze. Alastor talked about how she had made her contract with him while skipping the time and process of developing that emotion because she only existed to destroy Crimson Denizens, and that she hadn't interacted with anyone besides himself. They hadn't faced any trouble by not interacting, but Alastor said that it wasn't that bad to interact with others. Thinking of Yūji and his mother, Shana wasn't sure. As she dozed off, she hoped that Yūji wouldn't climb up to the roof that night.

Shana sleeping in Yūji's bed.
The next morning, Yūji was half asleep in his bed, and wondered what became of Shana yesterday. He felt something soft in his bed, which he had held as he slept, thinking it was a baseball bat he had grabbed to protect himself. It felt nice and smelt good, and when it took a breath, Yūji quickly opened his eyes and saw that it was Shana, dressed only in underwear. He hurried out of the bed and tried to make excuses to Alastor. Alastor stated that if he had done anything funny, Yūji would be dead, and he had gotten close. He told Yūji that last night he had told Shana to go into the house when she was dozing off, but half asleep, she had gone into Yūji's bed. Shana woke up and Alastor told her that she was in the bed because he had suggested it. As Shana noticed Yūji in the room and was getting mad, Yūji tried to make excuses. Alastor reminded her to use the back of her blade as she hit Yūji in the head.

Yūji wanting to protect the city and the people.
Before school, Alastor, Shana and Yūji were talking on the balcony of his room. Yūji wasn't listening because his head still hurt. Alastor decided to trust Yūji about the pulsing of the Torches. Friagne hadn't created enough Torches to activate City Devourer, but they should act quickly. Since Friagne hadn't made a Fūzetsu or hunted for Power of Existence since the day before yesterday, the two parties were at a stalemate. Shana planned on wandering around with Yūji as bait thinking Friagne would come out sooner or later because his Torches were disappearing, but Yūji said that they can't give Friagne the initiative; it would allow him to prepare and they would react to him, falling into his trap. Yūji knew of a method to lure Friagne out, even if he wasn't planning City Devourer, by doing something about the great number of Torches he needed. As he was also a Torch, Yūji didn't really want to carry out this plan, but there were no other options, and they had to stop Friagne. Shana was pleased with Yūji and Alastor agreed that it could work. Shana asked Yūji if he was sure he wanted to carry out the plan, seeing as he was passionate about Yukari Hirai's existence disappearing before, but he was sure. He wanted to protect the city and the people that were still alive. Shana told Yūji that after lunch they would leave the school and get busy.

- Shana: "Even without interacting, there hasn't been any problems."
Alastor: "Yes, rather, problems would increase if you did interact... but, it isn't bad is it?"
Shana: "You... think so?" - Yūji: "Th-th-th-this was beyond my control! I definitely, no probably, didn't do anything inexcusable!"
Alastor: "Of course not. If you had, you wouldn't have seen morning. You were in danger just now though." - Yūji: "I'm also a Torch. I would never want to do this, but I don't think we have the time to choose our options any longer. The longer we wait, the more disadvantaged we'll be. I won't let Friagne keep doing what he wants!"
Shana: "Heheh... did I turn a switch on when I hit him?"
