The Rainy Night I (雨の夜 I Ame no Yoru I ) is the sixth chapter of the Shakugan no Shana manga series.
Friagne confronted Shana before withdrawing. Yūji was then faced with the problem of how they would restore the damage to the classroom.
Summary[]

Friagne seeing a damaged Marianne.
The man introduced himself as Friagne. Alastor recognized the name as belonging to the "Hunter", who was also known as the "Flame Haze Killer". Friagne knew of Alastor, as he was famous in the Crimson Realm, and he had heard that Alastor had come to this world. He said that Shana was as beautiful as the rumors say, but that "her radiance was overdone". Alastor warned Shana that though he looked delicate, Friagne was a powerful Lord who had slaughtered numerous Flame Haze using his many Treasure Tools. Shana could tell that he was powerful. Friagne noticed the damaged Marianne and screamed. He apologized for making her fight Shana. With a gesture, all the playing cards returned to Friagne's hand as one, mostly burnt card. He praised Shana for damaging the card, Regular Sharp, that much. Marianne was also back in his arms, and Yūji wondered how he had done that. Friagne and Marianne apologized to each other and Friagne healed Marianne with a breath. Though he had given Marianne a Treasure Tool she wasn't used to, Friagne revealed to Shana that from the two fights, he had realized that she can't release her flames properly and her way of fighting was limited. He had been vigilant because she was contracted to Alastor. Showing his eye for Treasure Tools, Friagne believed that Shana could just barely bring out her flames with the power of her sword. Alastor noted his cunning in using the fights to grasp their ability, and Friagne said he had some grasp of it yesterday but was making sure. He had underestimated her power, but that was all. He thought Shana was wasting the treasure that was Alastor's powers. Shana wanted to fight but Friagne declined, claiming to have seen many Flame Haze get angry and self-destruct, and that it could destroy the Mystes, Yūji. In no rush, Friagne stated that he would arrange another meeting under better circumstances. He looked at Yūji and wondered what was inside before disappearing.

"I'm not throwing it away, I'm making use of it."
As Shana put away her sword, Alastor reflected that their enemy wasn't a Denizen but a Lord, and the "Hunter" Friagne at that. Alastor told Yūji that Friagne was a Lord, a powerful Denizen, but unlike himself, was not sealed within a human, and thus needed Power of Existence. He was an over-hunter, and thus an enemy of the Flame Haze. Yūji thought that the boss of the monsters would be a monster himself, but Alastor explained that Denizens could take any form they wanted. Shana told Yūji that she would use the Power of Existence of the girl still in his arms, Yoshida, to fix the area inside the Fūzetsu, which had been heavily damaged. He asked if Yoshida would become a Torch. Unlike yesterday, the Rinne had not consumed Power of Existence so there were no Torches around and someone's Power of Existence was needed, with one nearly dead person enough to fix all of the damage. Shana thought there was no problem because the rest of the classmates would be healed and Yoshida would be a Torch, but Yūji objected to her dying like him. Shana offered to use another classmate instead of Yoshida, but he again rejected the offer. Shana stated that if she undid the Fūzetsu now, the classmates would all die. Yūji couldn't bring himself to decide on which classmate to use. Shana then suggested that she could use him. She smugly explained that she could use his flame, which meant that the time remaining before he disappeared would be shortened by the amount she used, but to her surprise Yūji agreed to it immediately. She asked why he was throwing away his remaining time. Yūji responded that this was his fault, and that he wasn't throwing his life away, he was making use of it.

Shana complaining about Yūji.
At night in the rain, Shana voiced her annoyance at Yūji as she sat on top of his house. She had used some of Yūji's Power of Existence to fix the school, and remembered him smiling when the classroom and Yoshida turned out to be fine. Alastor remarked that Yūji was the first human she had interacted with in a long time. She said that Yūji was a Mystes, but Alastor noted that Yūji didn't think so, or it wasn't that important to his sense of self. Alastor stated that when he loses Power of Existence, Yūji will lose capacity for thought, will, and presence, and will fade and disappear. Shana hoped that he would be able to remain until they had destroyed Friagne. Suddenly, Yūji climbed up onto the roof, apparently knowing they would be there.
