Misaki Municipal High School Murder Case (御崎高校殺人事件 Misaki Kōkō Satsujin Jiken ) is the second track and first audio drama of the Shakugan no Shana II Splendide Shana Vol. II album. It is set sometime during Second episode 11.
In a play for the Seishū Festival, a series of murders is being committed and Melonpan Detective Shana is determined to get to the bottom of it.
Summary[]
At the Misaki Municipal High School assembly hall during the Seishū Festival, the master of ceremonies welcomed the audience and introduced Class 1-2's play. With Ike as director, writer, actor, acting instructor, and in charge of the stage, props, and costumes, the play was called "Misaki Municipal High School Murder Case - Mysteries beget more mysteries, the shocking revelations of the dying messages, at the end of the great detective's deduction and pursuit, the sad bonds of destiny rise from the steam, and the melonpan sheds tears of blood" (御崎高校殺人事件 ― 謎が謎呼ぶ、残されたダイイング・メッセージの衝撃、名探偵の推理と追跡の果て、湯煙に浮かぶ悲しき運命の絆、メロンパンは血の涙を流す ). The play would be narrated by Fujita.
Tragedy suddenly struck in the form of a bloody boy found in the men's toilets.
Tanaka had collapsed in the toilets and Ike, Yūji, Ogata, Yoshida, and Melonpan Detective Shana (メロンパン探偵シャナ ) gathered around him. Yūji had noticed Tanaka had never come back after going to the toilets that morning. Melonpan Detective Shana, a great detective who the police had left the investigation to, stated it was no use trying to wake Tanaka. Yūji commented his disapproval of Ike's setting for the play and Ike told him to shut up. Shana examined the crime scene. Tanaka was dead, pitiably murdered in the men's toilets after being struck in the back of the head with a blunt weapon. It had been half a day since the murder and there was no evidence of a struggle, suggesting it was committed by a close acquaintance of Tanaka. Yūji was concerned as this sounded like the murderer was among the group. On some nearby toilet paper was a dying message written in blood; the katakana "O" (オ ). Melonpan Detective Shana began eating melonpan and the narrator Fujita explained that when Shana ate them, they powered up her crimson brain cells and allowed her to solve any case. After being powered up, Melonpan Detective Shana proclaimed that she had solved the mystery. "O" was the offender's initial, incriminating Ogata, the only one among them with that initial. Ogata argued that there were others in their class with the initial "O". Melonpan Detective Shana wanted Ogata to confess, even though the only "evidence" was the message on toilet paper and Ogata had no motive to kill Tanaka. Shana believed that Ogata being close to Tanaka and appearing to have no motive was a mental trap which made her the most suspicious person. Though both Yoshida and Ogata noted the gap in her logic, Melonpan Detective Shana began wrapping up the play with the audience. Yoshida called on Ike and he testified that he saw Tanaka and Satō quarreling 2-3 days prior, leaving Ogata annoyed that he had waited so long to mention it. Yūji convinced Melonpan Detective Shana to investigate Ike's testimony, which she believed would only further prove her deduction.
After listening to Ike's testimony, the group headed to the Phys Ed. storage room, which Satō was known to have entered. The front door of the storage room was locked and there was no response from inside. Yoshida discovered blood flowing out from under the door. Melonpan Detective Shana kicked down the door and the group discovered Satō's corpse. He had been stabbed in the chest and there were no signs of a struggle. Therefore, similar to Tanaka's murder, it was committed by someone Satō knew. Satō had also left a dying message written in blood; the katakana "Ga" (ガ ). Melonpan Detective Shana again ate melonpan to power up her brain cells. "Ga" was the middle part of the perpetrator's name, again incriminating Ogata, the only one among them with "Ga" in their name. Ogata again pointed out that there were others in the class with "Ga" in their names. Shana again began wrapping up the play with the audience and Ike again made a late testimony, saying he saw Satō and Margery quarreling 2-3 days ago.
After Ike's testimony, the group went to Misaki Onsen, which Margery had went to with Wilhelmina. Before going to find Margery, Yoshida, Shana, Ogata and Ike bathed in the onsen. They promoted Misaki Onsen to the audience and recharged before going to Margery's room.
The four and Yūji entered to find Wilhelmina, who said they were too late. While Wilhelmina had been out buying souvenirs, Margery had been murdered, with her body still in the room. She had been hit from behind with a bottle and there were no signs of a struggle. Wilhelmina spoke of a dying message Margery had left behind in the large diary she had always carried around with her, which read "Pipsqueak" (チビジャリ ), a name Margery had often used to refer to Shana, thus incriminating her. Melonpan Detective Shana was adamant that she didn't murder Margery and claimed the message was telling her to find the criminal and get revenge. Ogata found Shana's excuse unfair as Shana had used flawed logic to accuse her of Tanaka and Satō's murders when seeing their dying messages. Wilhelmina pointed out that she should be the prime suspect as she was Margery's travel companion and had discovered the body first, but she was ignored. Since Shana looked to be the culprit going by her own earlier deductions, Yūji suggested that she turn herself in. Melonpan Detective Shana told Yūji to shut up and ate melonpan in order to solve Margery's murder. Powered up, Shana had solved the mystery behind the word "Pipsqueak". Without the detective saying anything, Yoshida assumed it would be pinned on Ogata again. Before Shana could reveal what she had learned, she suddenly collapsed in pain. With no pulse, Shana was declared dead. Wilhelmina discovered that poison had been administered to Shana's melonpan. Though Ogata thought another perpetrator had murdered Shana, Yūji believed Shana took her own life. She had killed Tanaka and Satō as well as Margery and had tried to frame Ogata as the murderer, but the conclusive evidence left behind by Margery gave her no way out except death. Yūji tried to say that the murders were now over, but Ike objected. Ike believed that Shana was not the perpetrator but the fourth victim and the true culprit was the one trying to pin the crimes on her; Yūji. Yūji was not with the group when they were using the onsen and met up with them afterwards. Therefore, he was the only one who could have killed Margery and poisoned Shana's melonpan while she was in the onsen. Ike again ignored Wilhelmina from the list of suspects. He praised Yūji's tricky murders, which took advantage of the lack of video due to this being an audio drama, but stated that he wouldn't be fooled. Having been discovered, Yūji crashed out of a window and fled from the police.
Ike and Yoshida chased Yūji to the coast of the Sea of Japan, where Yūji used a handgun to corner them on the edge of a cliff. Even Fujita found it odd that Ike was now referred to as Glasses Detective Hayato Ike (眼鏡探偵池速人 ).
Yūji was impressed that Ike had made it this far, but planned to kill him and Yoshida. Yoshida felt that Yūji didn't truly comprehend what he had done. Ogata suddenly came running and pleaded to Yūji to stop his crimes, calling him her older brother. She and Yūji were siblings who were separated due to family matters. When the murders began, Ogata was suspicious of her brother but didn't want to believe he was a murderer. Yūji claimed he did it all to protect her. Ogata explained to Ike that she was being threatened by Tanaka, who had found out that she padded her breasts. Tanaka had demanded being treated to food repeatedly or else he would reveal her secret, and it was when Ogata was running out of money that Yūji killed Tanaka. Satō had been the first to discover the crime scene and had called Yūji to the Phys Ed. storage room, where he told Yūji that he saw Ogata being threatened by Tanaka and thus suspected that she murdered him. If Tanaka's threatening became known, Ogata would be the prime suspect. In order to protect his younger sister, Yūji murdered Satō as well. Afterwards, Yūji dealt with Melonpan Detective Shana, who would eventually arrive at the truth of the murder cases, and Margery, who was sharp and also close with Tanaka and Satō. He had written all the dying messages so that Shana would be found guilty by the third message and her own deductions of the first two messages. All that Yūji had to do now was bump off Ike and Yoshida to conceal everything in darkness, with Wilhelmina again being ignored by everyone. Yoshida was still aware of something Yūji wasn't; the reason why Satō went to him instead of to Ogata directly. She revealed that Satō was also Ogata's older brother and Yūji's twin, which both Ogata and Yūji were unaware of. Yūji was in disbelief as Yoshida brought out Margery's diary, which detailed the connections of the family, of which Margery was the mother. Shana and Tanaka had also been Yūji's younger sister and brother, respectively. Yūji was horrified that he had killed his family and Ogata pleaded with him to atone for his sins, to which he agreed.
After Yūji was taken away by the police, Yoshida thanked Ike for saving Yūji from the path of a murderer, but he pointed out that Yoshida had been the one who convinced Yūji to turn himself in. Though the people killed wouldn't come back, Yoshida still had Ike, who vowed to always support her. He proposed that they live together and live life to the fullest for the sake of everyone who had died, which Yoshida agreed to. At the wedding ceremony, in which Wilhelmina was the marriage officiant, both agreed to their vows. After basking in the applause from the wedding guests, Ike vowed to make Yoshida happy, to which she replied that she already was. The two called each other by their given names for the first time.
Fujita's nagging narration rang out and Ike awoke. The first day of the Seishū Festival was tomorrow and Fujita made sure Ike remembered that their class was doing a crêperie and not a play. It had all been a dream, but even so, Ike was horrified at how cliché his play had been.

Cultural References[]
- Ogata made a pun when mentioning Tanaka's requests, as he had first requested from Ogata an oyakodon from the school cafeteria, and his requests "rapidly continued" (どんどん ) with a gyūdon from Yoshinoya, a katsudon from a set meal restaurant, and a tendon from a department store, until the point where Ogata could not even afford a serve of udon.
