Saishuku no Shadan (宰祝の社壇?, Shrine of Sacrificial Officials), also known as Shrine of True Ruler (真宰社 Shinsaisha?) was the transformed form of the Treasure Tool Seireiden, Bal Masqué's base of operation. It was created in the middle of Misaki City, on a high altitude above the Mana River, as the altar to perform the ceremony[1] of the God of Creation's Divine Summoning, Saiki Reisō.

Its official name is Crystallization of Self-Research Excellent 252570-Shrine of Sacrificial Officials (我学の結晶エクセレント252570-宰祝の社壇 Gagaku no Kesshō Ekuserento 252570-Saishuku no Shadan?).[2]

Background[]

Saishuku no Shadan was designed by Professor Dantalion to be a gigantic tower, stronghold and a place for sacrificial rituals. Originally, Dantalion envisioned it to be a freely moving Kaiju-like form, but the idea was rejected by Bel-Peol.[1]

Saishuku no Shadan was a new steel fortress created by breaking through the spire of Seireiden from within, expanding massive metallic arms, floors, and walls, and restructuring it with the original "Tower of Constellations" (星辰楼 Seishinrō?) at its pinnacle. Dantalion called Saishuku no Shadan, Ultimate Perfect Transformation Superalloy DX (究極完全変形超合金DX(デラックス) Kyūkyoku Kanzen Henkei Chōgōkin Derakkusu?).[2]

It was broadly divided into three main sections:

  • Altar section (祭壇部 Saidan-bu?) which was used for the ceremony to create the paradise Xanadu.
  • Fortress section (要塞部 Yōsai-bu?) which housed various defense systems, the central control room and the Conloquium.
  • Base section (基部 Ki-bu?) which was deeply embedded beside Misaki Bridge on the Mana River.

Seireiden's floating ability was lost when the tower had rooted itself into the ground. Moreover, its Crypta was also rendered unusable because its concealment powers were diverted into its transformation mechanism.

The primary defense systems include an eco-friendly and recyclable gimmick that suspends and keeps hundreds of pieces of Seireiden’s debris airborne, rotating them like an asteroid belt, as well as an army of antiquated-looking Iron Giants. With its defense system surpassing even Seireiden's, Saishuku no Shadan successfully withstood Shana's Unrestricted Spell Danzai, and managed to pin down half of the Flame Haze raid force.

However, its downfall was rooted in the very fact that it had settled on the ground. The base of Saishuku no Shadan was carved out by Khamsin’s Rubble Giant as material, literally pulling the ground from beneath it. This put Saishuku no Shadan on the brink of collapse, but Sydonay threw the massively enlarged and extended Shintetsu Nyoi as a temporary core pillar, making it barely managed to hold together. Immediately afterward, Dantalion and Domino relocated to the device control room to readjust the machinery and reconfigure Saishuku no Shadan. However, the control room they were in was pushed outside in the process, exposing them, and ultimately led to their demise by Kisan no Taiken.

After Xanadu was created, Saishuku no Shadan had served its purpose. Bel-Peol used Trivia to extract only the components of Seireiden and transfer them into the new world. The remaining wreckage was abandoned and fell into the Mana River; this purged everything Dantalion had ever done inside Seireiden, including the Conloquium.

Two months later, after Shana and the others had departed to Xanadu, the salvage of Saishuku no Shadan remnants from the depths of the Mana River began[3]; this was done by contractors under the influence of the Outlaw Guilunhui.

Trivia[]

  • In the name Dantalion calls Saishuku no Shadan, "Superalloy" (超合金 chōgōkin?) may also refer to a fictitious material in Go Nagai's Mazinger Z. The name was later adopted by Japanese toy manufacturer Popy for their line of die-cast metal robot and character toys.
  • The term "Saishuku" (宰祝?) refers to "officials in charge of sacrificial rituals and ceremonies".
  • The term "True Ruler" (真宰 Shinsai?) can also means "The Ruler of the Universe," "God of Creation," "Heavenly Emperor" or "The Creator/Maker".
