Rut (ラット Ratto?) was the new group of Crimson Denizens in Xanadu that appeared in the short story Amphitheater from Volume SIV.

Background[]

An organization comprised of Crimson Denizens who referred to themselves as Dantalion's disciples; they were Denizens from the old world who once received helps or guidance from Dantalion and revered him.

Two years after the creation of Xanadu, Cerebus led a plan to welcome Dantalion, who had disappeared into the Rift Between Both Worlds at the end of the Second Great War, back to the New World. In Tomozoe town, Cerebus used his Unrestricted Spell Stomachion and Unrestricted Spell of guidance extracted from the Crystallization of Self-Research "Messenger's Dagger" (伝令の短剣 Denrei no Tanken?) to create a replica of the Divine Gate and guide the Professor to Xanadu. This plan was participated by every surviving Crimson Denizens of Rut.

However, Shana and Yūji Sakai, who had sensed Rut's plot, quickly defeated all of the members of Rut. The Divine Gate replica was analyzed and dismantled by Yūji's Grammatica. All members of Rut were destroyed.

Organization[]

It was a unique organization, as they were not restricted enough to be considered "members", nor were they that passionate to work together to be called "comrades". The Crimson Denizens of Rut referred to each others as Fellow Pupils (同門 Dōmon?), as each ones considered themselves Dantalion's top disciple, they had chosen this neutral term so they would be equals.

As they all considered themselves to be the top disciple, they tended to be generally arrogant. Each of them had their own agendas, plans and ambitions. They were non-cooperative towards other Fellow Pupils and often view themselves as special; thus, they felt discomfort when grouped together, and even considered others to be fools who misunderstood Dantalion's teachings, unlike themselves.

They normally did not even have a relationship to communicate commands except for one factor they had in common: their revered teacher. The only occasions for them to combine their powers like a normal organization were when they went searching or snatching Crystallization of Self-Research or "holy relics" in their view. In their thoughts, an organization was simply the word for a mean for them to gather, it was unthinkable to be on the same level as other "real" organizations.
