Prison of Destruction (討滅の獄 Tōmetsu no Goku?) is the titular Treasure Tool in the non-canon short story by Kazuma Kamachi.

Background[]

When Prison of Destruction was in the possession of a human, it allowed them to form a contract with any Crimson Lord they wanted just by designating them. It didn't matter if the targeted Lord was in this world or the Crimson Realm, the former being impossible to contract with usually.[2] Due to Prison of Destruction's power, the Lord bound by the contract cannot cancel the contract of their own will, they are not released when the Flame Haze they are inside is killed and they can't go back to the Crimson Realm, leading to the Lord being extinguished with the Flame Haze. The only way out of the contract is if the Flame Haze wills it.[3] The top priority of its effect is sealing the Lord, so the Flame Haze dying won't stop its Manifestation-preventing function, and with the Flame Haze dead there's no way for the Lord to be released from the contract. It also prevents the Lord from returning to the Crimson Realm, and the Lord would be destroyed by the pressure felt from not being able to do either.[3]

The Treasure Tool was created by "Seeking Researcher" Dantalion after the Great War of the Middle Ages, a time when the number of Flame Haze had declined, and it was thought to have saved Flame Haze from extinction.[1] Its creation and saving the Flame Haze was one of the reasons why Dantalion was hated by other Crimson Denizens.[1] Dantalion carried out tests during Prison of Destruction's development near Brocken Mountain, around the same time he was developing the Fūzetsu.[1] It's not known what Prison of Destruction looked like, or if it was a Crystallization of Self-Research.

The Prison of Destruction was valuable in that it could forcibly mass-produce Flame Haze and seal away troublesome Crimson Lords. However, the Flame Haze born from Prison of Destruction have a weak sense of duty, eventually creating problems to the world's balance. Later, Prison of Destruction was destroyed by "Hidden Pursuer" Notburga.[4] However, its destruction didn't undo the contracts it had created.[5]
