Misaki Waterland is a large water park that recently opened and has advertisements on television. Inside the facility are vending machines and food stands. The facility is built around a small hill which can be seen from a distance.[1]
Couples' Water Cavalry-Battle Competition[]

During the afternoon, the park holds its specialty, the "Couples' Water Cavalry-Battle Competition" (水中カップル騎馬戦), and the first one ever held was the one won by Mr. Okada and his wife.[1] Teams are formed with one man and woman, and they compete in a pool against other teams. In the competition, the woman rides on top of the man's shoulders and wears a headband, while the man traverses through the water. The woman has to take headbands from the other teams and the winning team is the one with the most headbands at the end of the 3 minute regulation time. A team is out of the competition when their headband is taken or their cavalry collapses. The awards for the winning team are a free fine dining dinner for two at a restaurant with a night view, all the handmade bread they can eat, and free drinks. Yūji thought that there may also be smaller prizes for teams who last the whole 3 minutes.[1]

Ike received many complimentary tickets to Misaki Waterland from his father, who obtained them through work connections. One day in early summer, Ike distributed the tickets to his classmates.[1]

On Sunday, Shana, Yūji, Yoshida, Ike and Ogata go to Misaki Waterland. Ogata had invited Satō and Tanaka to come as well, but they declined because they wanted to spend time with Margery. Margery later wanted to go to the water park, leading to Satō and Tanaka going anyway. Ogata found the two and started shouting at them, which gathered a crowd and brought Margery and Yūji and Shana together.[1]

The students decide to enter the Cavalry-Battle and make teams by drawing strings, with the teams being Shana and Satō, Ogata and Tanaka, and Yūji and Yoshida, with Ike sitting out. 19 teams participated in the competition. At the start, Yoshida eliminated a team accidentally when they pulled down her swimsuit, Ogata took out two teams that were fighting each other, and Shana skillfully took out 4 teams who targeted her all at once. With less than 1 minute to go, Shana got Satō to chase after Yūji and Yoshida until Satō's collapse brought down both teams. The four headbands that Shana had taken fell on top of Mr. Okada's wife's head, given the Okada team the victory. Ike had been unable to spectate because Margery had fallen asleep on his lap.[1]
