J.C.STAFF Co.,Ltd. (株式会社ジェー・シー・スタッフ Kabushiki-gaisha Jē Shī Sutaffu ) is a Japanese animation studio which produced the Shakugan no Shana anime series. It is a member of The Association of Japanese Animations. J.C.STAFF is short for "JAPAN CREATIVE STAFF". Its headquarters is in Musashino, Tokyo.
J.C.STAFF was founded on January 18, 1986 by Tomoyuki Miyata, who previously worked at Tatsunoko Production, as an animation studio specializing in OVAs. The company used to be located in Mitaka, Tokyo until July 15, 2002, when it moved to the 5th floor of the Swing Building in Musashino. It has an integrated, in-house production system incorporating production management, drawing, finishing, background art, 3DCG, and photography. J.C.STAFF focused on OVAs and films for the first 10 years after its founding, with its first TV series being Metal Fighter Miku, produced in 1994. Since then, they have shifted focus to TV series.
