An Instant Flame Haze (即席フレイムヘイズ Sokuseki Fureimu Heizu?) is a type of Flame Haze in the non-canon short story by Kazuma Kamachi, Prison of Destruction.

Background[]

An Instant Flame Haze was created when a human possessed Prison of Destruction and designated a Crimson Lord to contract with. They have full control over the contract, as the Crimson Lord can't remove it themselves.[1] It was likely that most of the early Instant Flame Haze were formed around Brocken Mountain after the Great War, when Flame Haze numbers had drastically declined and a temporary Outlaw was set up at the mountain to conduct Tuning.[2] With Prison of Destruction, Instant Flame Haze could be mass-produced and powerful Lords could be sealed, and theoretically the vast superiority of the number of humans could be used to eradicate all Lords in this world.[1]

Instant Flame Haze would have small Vessels and are thus weaker than "true" Flame Haze.[2] Due to the incompatibility between the Flame Haze and the Lord, as the human was not chosen by the Lord, only a slight amount of power could be granted to the Flame Haze from the Lord through the contract.[3] Instant Flame Haze had no strong purpose for destruction and were mentally weak, breaking down when faced with their loss of humanity or cornered by a powerful Crimson Lord.[3]

Many Instant Flame Haze eventually formed a faction and began selfishly attacking humans and desiring Power of Existence, becoming no different to Crimson Denizens. Some of the Instant Flame Haze had still tried to help humans, but the "true" Flame Haze evaluated that their overall effect on the balance of the world was negative.[4] About 70 Instant Flame Haze were slayed in the Prison of Destruction Incident.[5] A handful of Instant Flame Haze are thought to have survived to the Modern Era, some of which were among at least 47 Flame Haze who died at the hands of Notburga.

Known Instant Flame Haze[]

Prison of Destruction didn't explicitly reveal any Instant Flame Haze. "Reciter of the End" Syrus Lellis had possibly been an Instant Flame Haze due to being targeted by Notburga, rising to prominence after the Great War, and the lack of communication with his Crimson Lord Penemue. However, Lellis had a strong desire for revenge against Sabrac, was quite powerful, and had kept his sanity and survived to the Modern Era, all of which were uncharacteristic for an Instant Flame Haze.

An Instant Flame Haze contracted to the Crimson Lord who Notburga loved was captured by Khamsin Nbh'w.[6]
