Improvisational Poem of Slaughter (屠殺の即興詩 Tosatsu no Sokkyōshi ) is an impromptu incantation or poem conducted by the powerful Unrestricted Spell Masters, the Flame Haze "Chanter of Elegies" Margery Daw and her Crimson Lord "Claw and Fangs of Violation" Marchosias, before the activation of Unrestricted Spells. It is also a general term for those Unrestricted Spells.[1] The poems are references to nursery rhymes.
In the anime, the spell's name is censored to Improvisational Poem of Enclosed Killing (堵殺の即興詩 Tosatsu no Sokkyōshi ) in order to not violate the television broadcasting code.
Background[]
Ordinarily, large-scale Unrestricted Spells need an Unrestricted Spell Insignia to be constructed or power to be distributed or other such elaborate work. However, this work is done instantly as among the Insignias stored inside Marchosias' Divine Vessel Grimoire, one with a wording which fits the poem is chosen and acts as a booster before activating the spell. Improvisational Poems of Slaughter are unleashed through cooperating with Marchosias.[1]
Uses[]
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John[]
Used to lure out Shana. Torches within the spreading ripples are changed into the energy source, and an extensive probe of the area is conducted.
In the manga, the Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John spell was used in presumably another city before Margery arrived in Misaki City. It has different lyrics.
A Sunshiny Shower[]
Changes Toga clones into a torrential rain of flames and attacks with them.
It's Raining, It's Pouring[]
In the manga's Viz translation, this poem was changed to be It's Raining, It's Pouring.
Solomon Grundy[]
Creates a cage with seven swords and burns down the imprisoned enemy with flames. Once defeated Shana.
I would, if I could.[]
Wasn't used for a spell, but was instead sung by a drunk Margery.
Sally go round the sun[]
An Unrestricted Spell to make clones.
Rain on the green grass[]
Causes flames to explosively expand and swallow up everything around it. Margery creates a safety zone around herself to protect her from the explosion. It destroyed the rooftop of the Misaki Atrium Arch.
See, saw, Margery Daw[]
Wasn't used for a spell, but was sung by Margery in her despair after being defeated by Shana.
Humpty Dumpty[]
Changes the thrown clone of Yūji into a birdcage which captures Sydonay.
One's none[]
Used against Sydonay. After rapidly firing Endan, a big Endan is fired.
Ring-a-ring-a-roses[]
Ride a cock-horse[]
Used to investigate the Professor's Unrestricted Spell Insignia. Applied multiple defensive Unrestricted Spells to a bent lightning rod and made it fly.
Sing a song of sixpence[]
Used to destroy the Illusive Birds which Khamsin failed to destroy. Created many Endan which remained in mid-air before firing.
A Was an Apple Pie[]
Who Comes Here? A Grenadier (I)[]
The improvisational poem used against the Tyrant, which had partially carried out Reflective Transfer on Yūji. She wrapped it up with all the spells she could think of to scan and capture it.
Who Comes Here? A Grenadier (II)[]
An improvisational poem used against Fecor to disturb his sense of sight. She trapped him in a space which looked like a kaleidoscope, and exploded it all at once, with the resulting flash of light causing him to be unable to see.
Old Mother Goose[]
Used against Sabrac's true body. The first half set Unrestricted Spells at reference points for the cutting-off, and the second half created a space containing destructive Unrestricted Spells and made it float, cutting out Sabrac's true body and a section of the city from the rest of the city.
Humpty Dumpty (II)[]
Used in order to tear down the barrier of Silvers that Yūji had formed with Tyrant. The aim was to use the Insignias brought about by the poem to crush the barrier by twisting it from the inside. However, it ended in failure.
Six little mice sat down to spin[]
Used to seal Sydonay, who fell for the trap of the fake Tendōkyū, with an extremely large-scale cage Unrestricted Spell. However, it didn't last 3 minutes before being destroyed.
The Flying Pig[]
Creates a wall above the enemy's head and makes them crash into it.
One's None, Two's Some[]
Changes five big Endan into several hundreds or thousands of grains of Endan and fires them as an unavoidable shower. Each grain is comparable to a regular Endan.
Who killed Cock Robin?[]
Encircled Sydonay with several huge wolf heads and destroyed him with the firepower of tens of thousands of Flame Haze.
Punch and Judy fought for a pie[]
Used against Annaberg and Sydonay. Attacks by exploding Toga clones.
Cinderella no Shana[]
What are little boys made of?[]
Used on Kazumi Yoshida (Cendrillon). Changed her clothes into a pure white dress.
First in a carriage[]
Used on a pumpkin and the two mice, Keisaku and Eita. Changed the pumpkin into a carriage and the two mice into horses.
Anime Original[]
I won't be my father's Jack,[]
Used against the Seireiden. An extra-large Endan attack.
Poem of Unknown Origin[]
Used against Fumina Konoe. A scanning poem to investigate whether she was a Denizen or not.
The Lion and The Unicorn[]
Used to break into the gigantic shell around the Misaki Clock Tower. She wrapped herself, Shana and Wilhelmina in an Unrestricted Spell Insignia, which became a mass of flames like a screw which broke through the brittle part of shell.
