Gordian Knot (非常手段 Gorudian Notto , lit. Emergency Measure) are a set of "artificially-made" Treasure Tools crafted by Dantalion per Bel-Peol's request.[2]
Appearance[]
Gordian Knot takes the shape of a golden key.[3]
Vine proudly wore his Gordian Knot around his neck like a medal.[4]
Background[]
Gordian Knots are crafted from the gold ingot known as "Demigold"; this "material" is created using Dantalion's Special Ability to permanently materialize phenomena that should normally be limited to his own manifestation.[2] While they are created by Dantalion, Gordian Knots are considered normal Treasure Tools[2][3][5], not Crystallization of Self-Research.
Bel-Peol entrusts Gordian Knots to her handpicked subordinates, mainly the Jaegers.[3][6] Though she hands them over under the guise of medals or trump cards, they are actually Treasure Tools interwoven with various Unrestricted Spells tailored for different purposes.[2]
When its owner is on the verge of death, the golden key activates the embedded Unrestricted Spell by consuming their remaining Power of Existence (their ember).[6] At that moment, for some unknown reason, Bel-Peol and that Crimson Denizen used as the power source can communicate with each other. This is only shown in Vine's case.[7] Additionally, even if the owner is not on the verge of death, Bel-Peol can activate those Gordian Knots at her discretion.[8][9]
Even after Dantalion was destroyed, Gordian Knots remain usable[8][9], unlike his other creations like Tyrants and Dragon Tail.
