Shakugan no Shana Wiki

Gehinnom (ゲーヒンノム Gēhin'nomu?) is a large furnace-shaped Treasure Tool filled with ash. It is owned by Bal Masqué and located in Seireiden's control room known as the "Chamber of Enshrined Hearth" (祀竈閣 Shisōkaku?).[1]

Background[]

Gehinnom is filled with ashes which moves to make quick, accurate replicas of the desired area nearby; but as the Crystal Altar is missing, it is normally used as the container for the three weapons of the Trinity: Trigon, Shintetsu Nyoi and Tartaros. It is the rule that their Treasure Tools would be stored here when not being used in the execution of the Grand Order.[2]

The dark, uneven ash can represent the world map, battlefields, and even fine terrain such as the interior of Seireiden, and is used in the strategic meetings of Bal Masqué. Like Crystal Altar, it seems capable of displaying things beyond just topography.

Similar to Caina in Tendōkyū, Gehinnon also functions as a control system for the various capabilities of Seireiden.

Plot[]

During the ambush made by Khamsin and Rebecca Reed to rescue Shana, the "Chamber of Enshrined Hearth" was destroyed and Gehinnom was overturned. However, it was promptly righted by Wilhelmina Carmel, who arrived shortly thereafter. She then used the Treasure Tool to assess the situation around Shana and others. Although Wilhelmina had experience operating Caina, she was unable to fully grasp the extensive and complex functions of Gehinnom. Nevertheless, she did manage to take control of Seireiden's mobility and used it to order Seireiden to drop onto the rear guard of the Seireiden defense force, delivering a significant blow.

After Seireiden arrived at Misaki City, it transformed into Saishuku no Shadan for the ceremony to create the New World Xanadu. Gehinnom was relocated to the central control room.

However, it was ultimately destroyed when it was caught in the aftermath of Sydonay driving his Shintetsu Nyoi into the Saishuku no Shadan from above to prevent it from collapsing. Seeing the destroyed Gehinnom, Bel-Peol mused idly whether this Treasure Tool would be considered one of Seireiden's restoration target; if so, it would be restored alongside the original Seireiden after she separated its parts from Dantalion's modifications.

Trivia[]

  • Gehinnom is the Rabbinical Hebrew rendition of Gehenna, a destination for the wicked.[3]
