Part 8: Statue of Pride (第8回『敖の立像』 Dai 8-kai "Gō no Ritsuzō" ) is the eighth and final episode of Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana! covering the second season of the anime series, and twentieth and final overall. It was released on the eighth Shakugan no Shana Second DVD volume.
Summary[]
Like with the Silver, much about the Statue of Pride was unclear, but Friagne would explain what he could. Marianne understood it to be a huge monster created by transforming the clock tower, but it seemed to mean more to Bal Masqué. "Seeking Researcher" Dantalion stated that it was a being using Power of Existence as its source of power, collected emotions as its brain, and the Reiji Maigo as its heart. Marianne recalled that he had also said they would be creating a Denizen, which could only be born in the Crimson Realm, in this world. Though this was seen as impossible, "Seeking Researcher" likely attempted it because it was impossible.
However, the Statue of Pride wasn't the result of one person's interests. Its creation required Bal Masqué's elaborate preparations, such as the Unrestricted Spell Insignia driven into the Reiji Maigo by Sabrac and the earlier Whole Sacred Chapel. Therefore, Friagne was sure Bal Masqué had some important purpose for it, which they called the Grand Order. Sadly, Friagne didn't know what the Grand Order was, but was able to grasp the risk and determination involved from the Statue of Pride. It was a huge existence, so huge that it would affect the world in and of itself. Marianne added that as the Statue of Pride used the eternal engine Reiji Maigo to endlessly run on the vast power gained from the Whole Sacred Chapel, the Flame Haze who protect the world's balance would not ignore it. The fact that the usually resourceful and careful "Arbiter of Reverse Reasoning" Bel-Peol tried to create the Statue of Pride knowing full well the large disturbance it would likely cause showed her extraordinary determination in carrying out the Grand Order. Marianne was feeling scared but Friagne assured her that the Statue of Pride was destroyed and the realization of the Grand Order had been prevented for the time being.
Marianne started shrinking, having some unfortunate information to tell Friagne. However, he had already figured out that this was the last episode of Ask Anything Question Box. He felt calm and wanted to welcome what was coming instead of feeling regret. Marianne thanked Friagne for teaching her so many things and he apologized for being unable to answer many others. As this was the end, Friagne had a question for Marianne, asking why she had been calling him "Master" (ご主人様 ) in the Second extras instead of Friagne-sama like she had been previously. Marianne answered that she wanted to treasure his name and not get carried away by the fact she was in a position to call him by it. Friagne was touched and Marianne called him by his name at last. Friagne was glad they could end the series on such a bright note and the two thanked the audience, wishing to meet again someday.
