Part 6: Giralda (第6回『ヒラルダ』 Dai 6-kai "Hiraruda" ) is the sixth episode of Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana! covering the second season of the anime series, and eighteenth overall. It was released on the sixth Shakugan no Shana Second DVD volume.
Summary[]
Marianne had a message from the Shakugan no Shana II Production Committee to relay to the audience. There had been a typographical error in the fourth Naze Nani Shana! episode included in the fourth DVD volume, with Pheles' true name written as (彩瓢 ) instead of (彩飄 ). The staff apologized for this.
Friagne started the episode very eager to start explaining and looked bigger than normal. He claimed he was always full of eagerness like how the show was full of love. This episode's topic was Giralda, the Treasure Tool "Colorful Wave" Pheles gave to Kazumi Yoshida. This small cross-shaped Treasure Tool allowed humans to activate the Unrestricted Spell loaded inside it. Marianne asked what the Unrestricted Spell inside Giralda was. Based on Pheles saying it would summon her, Friagne guessed it was a type of summoning which made use of Kaze no Tenrin. Marianne wondered why Giralda had been given to Kazumi Yoshida instead of "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes" or Yūji Sakai, who were more used to Unrestricted Spells. Friagne explained that a human woman's emotions were the only thing that could make Giralda activate, and therefore skill in Unrestricted Spells and amount of Power of Existence didn't matter. Marianne thought this requirement was strange. Friagne believed there was another requirement, or rather price which needed to be paid to activate it; the human who activated it would lose their Power of Existence and die. Pheles would be summoned in exchange for the human's life.
Friagne stated that Pheles may be testing whether Yoshida had enough strength in resolve and feelings to give her life to save someone, in her case Yūji Sakai. Marianne found it cruel that if Kazumi Yoshida died summoning Pheles, only Yūji Sakai, who she had saved, and "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes" would remain. Could you sacrifice everything out of love and leave everything to your romantic rival? It was a question Friagne and Marianne couldn't answer easily as they were irreplaceable to each other. Marianne felt bad for Kazumi Yoshida, as she had always wished to stand alongside Yūji Sakai and "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes", a Mystes and Flame Haze respectively, and the power given to her to do that had an awful outcome. Friagne pointed out that these requirements were only derived from Pheles' statements, so it was possible that they were all lies and Pheles was just testing Yoshida. They wouldn't know for sure until Giralda was used, and it obviously couldn't be used lightly. They also didn't know what Yoshida would do until she was faced with an event in which she needed to use it. It was unknown whether she could judge if a situation called for Pheles to be summoned, or if she could maintain her state of mind during an event and overcome hesitation and fear. Marianne and Friagne wanted to believe in a miracle of love, as they had perished trying to realize a miracle. However, they eventually obtained the miracle that was this show, and wanted a miracle for Yoshida too.
Friagne noticed that their time was up. The topic of the next episode was the fearsome assassin, "Destructive Blade" Sabrac.
