The first special episode of Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana!. Though it has no title, the topic of the episode is "Flame of Heaven" (天壌の劫火). It was released on DVD Magazine 1 (DVDまがじん1), a bonus DVD bundled with the first Shakugan no Shana DVD volume when pre-ordered.

Summary

Marianne was happy that their program was featured not only on the main DVD but on the pre-order bonus DVD as well. Friagne remarked that given their talents, the whole bonus DVD should have been all about them; 90 minutes about their love-filled lives.

Friagne soon became dejected by the fact that they had been discovered by a Flame Haze, and that it was "Flame of Heaven" in particular. Marianne asked Friagne if he knew "Flame of Heaven" and Friagne explained that all Denizens knew of him. Their encounter at the school was the first time Friagne had met him, but he knew that "Flame of Heaven" was like his name suggested, a huge fire that could burn away everything in the world. However, his contractor, the "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter", was inexperienced and not making use of his power.

Marianne was having trouble understanding and asked Friagne to explain in a way that was easier to understand. She had an idea for how he could do this, but was worried it would damage his image. Friagne insisted Marianne tell him, saying there should be no secrets between them and that he would grant any wish she had. Marianne wanted Friagne to tell her about the "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter" through an A-i-u-e-o essay (あいうえお作文), a type of wordplay similar to an acrostic. Friagne was confused but managed to make an A-i-u-e-o essay for "Shana" (シャナ). He was next made to struggle through another one, this time for the strange Mystes "Yūji" (ゆうじ). Marianne was impressed with Friagne and wanted him to next talk about Margery and Marchosias, the Flame Haze pair who loved battle. The episode faded to black with Friagne struggling through an A-i-u-e-o essay for "Marchosias" (マルコシアス).

Marianne returned and told the audience to refer to the main DVD for a proper episode explaining terminology.

Trivia

• For the ル portion of the A-i-u-e-o essay for Marchosias, Friagne said "Mitsuo Iwata without rules," referring to Marchosias' voice actor.
