"Tuner Edition" (調律師編 Chōritsu-shi-hen ) is the sixth episode of Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana!. It was released on the sixth Shakugan no Shana DVD volume.
Summary[]
Marianne started off straight away by asking about the boy named Khamsin, the Flame Haze who suddenly appeared on the day of the festival. Friagne explained that Khamsin is a Flame Haze known as a Tuner. After Crimson Denizens devour Power of Existence or fight with Flame Haze, large Distortions in the world may sometimes arise, and Tuners are Flame Haze who go around rectifying those Distortions. Marianne wondered why placing Torches as substitute humans and using Power of Existence to restore damage from battles wasn't enough to dissolve Distortions. Friagne explained that Torches temporarily conceal Distortions and that Distortions would appear the moment a Torch is extinguished. Denizens don't care about Distortions, though there are some who complain about the balance of the world and believe that neglecting Distortions will lead to the destruction of the world. Marianne asked what Distortions of the world really meant. Friagne explained that Distortions were when people felt something was out of place, subtle inconsistencies, and other things that couldn't be put into words. Tuning is the act of correcting those subtle deviations. Marianne likened it to the tuning done to the sound of a piano, causing Friagne to gush over her cleverness. The difference was that a piano could be perfectly tuned by someone with perfect pitch while the world did not have any absolute standard of normalcy. Misaki City, for example, has its own unique ideal form it should take, which is needed for Tuning, and Kazumi Yoshida had an image of this ideal form in her heart. Friagne pointed out that the Tuner approached Yoshida because she had been in contact with "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes" for a long time and the Flame Haze's Presence could be felt from her, but thought it was no coincidence that Yoshida had stepped into their world.
Marianne commented on the Tuner's young appearance and Friagne revealed that he was one of the oldest Flame Haze. He introduced the Tuner, whose title is "Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment", and his contracted Lord, "Steadfast Sharp Peak", as formidable opponents known for their wild fighting style. Marianne found it remarkable that including the Tuner, there were now three Flame Haze in the same time and place. Crimson Denizens have also been arriving one after the other in the same place over a short period of time, and Friagne was pleased to say that this was because of the two of them, namely due to the City Devourer Friagne had been working on. The two had made many Torches, which gave birth to large Distortions, and both of these things brought the other Denizens and Flame Haze to the city. Friagne and Marianne agreed that this didn't matter anymore because they were both dead. However, they could now be together in the classroom, so them dying wasn't so bad.
Marianne pointed out that the show had reached its end, which Friagne thought was nice timing.
