The second episode of Friagne and Marianne no Naze Nani Shana!. Though it has no title, the topics of the episode are Torches (トーチ) and Treasure Tools (宝具). It was released on the second Shakugan no Shana DVD volume.

Summary

Friagne was saddened when Marianne mentioned that they had been defeated. He wondered whether he had taken "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes" lightly or not factored the boy in enough. Marianne was glad that Friagne had done his best for her. This gave Friagne strength to continue fighting, but Marianne reminded him that they were dead. However, they were allowed to keep running the Naze Nani Shana! show, and Friagne was happy they had gained another form of eternity.

Friagne vowed to answer any question but was irritated when Marianne asked about Yūji Sakai. Yūji was a Torch, a substitute made from the embers of a human who has died after their Power of Existence was devoured by a Crimson Denizen. Marianne knew that Denizens made Torches so that Flame Haze wouldn't sense them. If a single human's Power of Existence was extinguished, a large Distortion would form in the world and Tools of Destruction would arrive at the scene. Since Torches are made from a person's remnants, they retain their memories and personality. As their remaining power is consumed, their sense of presence gradually fades, and they eventually disappear quietly by the time people no longer notice them. This is when the flame inside them goes out. Once the Torch disappears, it is as if that person never existed.

Treasure Tools.

Though Yūji is a Torch, he is different because he is one that houses a Crimson Realm treasure, a Treasure Tool, inside him. This type of Torch is called a Mystes. Friagne had wanted that Treasure Tool because he was the "Hunter" and collected them. Marianne questioned why he would want Yūji's Treasure Tool when he already had Regular Sharp, Dance Party, Azure, and Trigger Happy among many others, and Friagne responded that his desire was endless. On top of that, Yūji's Treasure Tool was the Reiji Maigo, a treasure among treasures which replenishes the power of a Torch's flame at the end of every day. If Friagne had obtained it, he could have made Marianne an eternal existence.

Friagne was full of love for Marianne, but it was already time for the show to end.
