The Forced Contract Experiment (強制契約実験 Kyōsei Keiyaku Jikken ) was an experiment conducted by Dantalion several centuries ago. It was one of his many misdeeds that considerably affected both this world and Crimson Realm.
As the name suggests, the experiment forced unwilling Crimson Denizens into contracts with humans. The specific methods of how Dantalion accomplished this were shrouded in mystery.
Seere Habichtsburg and Gizo are "artificial" Flame Haze created from this experiment. His official name given to him by Dantalion is Crystallization of Self-Research Experiment 13261 (我学の結晶エクスペリメント13261 Gagaku no Kesshō Ekusuperimento 13261 ), Combination Invincible Superhuman (合体無敵超人 Gattai Muteki Chōjin ).[1]
Background[]
During the 16th Century, after the Great War ended, the notorious Professor conducted an experiment to unravel the mechanism behind the contract between a human and a Crimson Denizen in order for them to become a Flame Haze.[1]
A vast number of unwilling Crimson Denizens, ranging from powerful Lords to lesser Denizens, were dragged from the Crimson Realm to this world. During the forced Rift Crossing, many were caught in the raging storm between both worlds and perished.[1]
Even though they survived and contracts were successfully established, their contractors were also unfortunate victims that got into this mess by chance. Thus, they became Flame Haze that completely lacked sense of duty to protect the world. This resulted in them causing chaos in the world and getting hunted and destroyed by other conventional Flame Haze, or attacked by Denizens. These environment caused them to fall into despair, go mad, or commit suicide.[2]
Seere Habichtsburg and Gizo, who became a Flame Haze from this experiment and managed to survive and remain active to this day, are extremely rare cases.[3] Despite his duty to put a stop to his creator's misdeeds, Seere sarcastically calls Dantalion "father" (親父殿 Oyaji-dono ).[4]
Aftermath[]
This experiment caused many Crimson Denizens to come to loathe Dantalion due to the mass death of their brethren, and the increase of Flame Haze including some powerful ones like the "Puppeteer of Devilish Skills".[1]
Trivia[]
- This experiment is non-canonically expanded in "Prison of Destruction", a short story written by Kazuma Kamachi. Flame Haze who were into contracts by the titular Treasure Tool are called Instant Flame Haze; they are hunted by a Flame Haze Notburga, who is searching for her beloved Crimson Lord that got trapped inside a human contractor.
