Eternal Pitfall (久遠の陥穽 Kuon no Kansei ) is the place where the defeated and banished Crimson God of Creation, the Snake of the Festival was exiled for thousands of years.
Its true identity is the Rift between the Crimson Realm and this world. This very place becomes an inescapable prison when the target's reception for the resonance (共振 Kyōshin ) was sealed, as it is necessary when using the Rift Crossing to cross between worlds.
According to Marchosias, it is "the world's rift outside all laws, where even a god is powerless".[1]
Background[]
Since the Rift Between Both Worlds has no concepts of physical distance or spatial relationships, any Crimson Denizen, or even a God, is considered incapable of escape when trapped in this state.
However, Bal Masqué's second stage of the Grand Order is to release their leader, the Snake of the Festival, from this very prison.[2] From this location, the Snake of the Festival transmits the Psalm of the Grand Order to Hecate. He also constructs the Path of Pilgrimage within the Rift Between Both Worlds, and resonates with fragments of Personality Reflections and the Virtual Aggregate Will. In the end, he manages to express his will in this world through a substitute body, and went back to retrieve his true body inside the Sanctuary via the Divine Gate.
The Snake of the Festival and his substitute body, Yūji Sakai, ultimately fulfilled the Grand Order by creating the new world Xanadu within this Rift Between Both Worlds and migrating nearly all Crimson Denizens there.
