Ekaterina (エカテリーナ Ekaterīna) is an anime original character and is a dog owned by Kazumi Yoshida. Ekaterina is of the Shiba Inu breed.
Appearance[]
Ekaterina is a small dog with light, brown fur and beady black eyes. She doesn't even come up to Kazumi's knees.
Personality[]
Ekaterina gets in a bad mood if she is not taken for a walk each morning.[1]
Plot[]
"Aizen Siblings" Arc[]
Kazumi wakes up in the middle of the night, sees that Ekaterina is in her room, and offers to take her for an early walk. Ekaterina gets ahead of Kazumi but stops at the park near the Misaki Bridge when she sees Shana and Yūji looking at the reflection of the starry night sky in the Mana River. When Kazumi arrives, Ekaterina points out the two to her.[2]
"Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment" Arc[]
In the early morning, Kazumi is walking Ekaterina when the dog stops to bark at one of the bird ornaments for the Misago Festival. They then rush home so that Kazumi can get ready for school.[3]

Shakugan no Shana-tan[]
Ekaterina is also seen in the Shana-tan shorts, but due to Shana burning her dogs in one scene, her dogs constantly change, until she is settled in a dog seen in Itadaki no Hecate-tan as Ekaterina, in which was probably killed again in Shakugan no Shana-tan Revenge where Kazumi sits on top of her. Her pet is now a large bettle seen in Shakugan no Shana-tan G but gets killed in Shakugan no Shana-tan Dos when she stomps at it.
Powers and Abilities[]
Ekaterina is very observant, finding Shana and Yūji in the park at night[2] and noticing something about the Illusive Birds,[3] when Yūji and the Flame Haze in Misaki City had not sensed anything wrong with them.
