EastEdge (イーストエッジ Īsutoejji) is the Native-American Flame Haze who runs the Outlaw disguised as a news agency in New York and took care of Yurī. He has the title "Summoner of Star River" (星河の喚び手 Seiga no Yobite) and is one of the four powerful Flame Haze known as The Four Gods of Earth, who had protected the American continent for centuries. He is always upset when others call them by their Flame Haze titles. They prefer calling themselves by their own self-styled names, in EastEdge's case, he is called "The Man Who Saw Every Stars" (全ての星を見た男 Subete no Hoshi o mita Otoko).
Appearance[]
EastEdge is a tall, muscular man who appears to be middle-aged. He has a dark complexion and chiseled facial features, with clearly defined cheek-bones and a broad nose. His face is described to be rugged like rock covered in tanned leather.[1] He has long, dark hair which he wears in a ponytail, tied with a gold ring. He has his fringe parted in the middle and wrapped around his ears. Around the cartilage rims of his ears, he wears gold earrings. He also wears a gold necklace.
EastEdge usually wears a white collared-shirt with black pants and suspenders. Attached to the belt around his pants is a stone medal with engravings named Teotl, which is Quetzalcóatl's Divine Vessel. When he joins the battle at Misaki City, he is seen donning a woolen mantle over his shoulders which is fastened with a star-shaped clasp that glimmered dully.[2]
Personality[]
EastEdge rarely changes his facial expression and hides his emotions. He despises the term "New World" used by Europeans to describe the Americas. He also has a hatred for Denizens that enjoy devouring humans.
Background[]
When he was human, EastEdge was a traveler who wanders the land to grasp and scale its extremity.
In the 19th century, the Four Gods and their comrades had plotted to destroy the government of the United States to liberate their fellow natives who had suffered from the invasion of white people. Many Flame Haze stood up to stop the plot, leading to the Civil War where two groups of Flame Haze fought, but this would cost dearly as the balance of the world had collapsed and the Denizens were wreaking havoc as they pleased. The Four Gods had no choice but to abandon the plan, along with the passion to protect the world that expanded by sacrificing their fellow people and the great earth. With a suggestion from a Tuner, they each became the keeper of the four Outlaws in four major cities of the North and South America. Now, EastEdge runs an Outlaw branch in New York called the "EastEdge Foreign News" (イーストエッジ外信 Īsutoejji Gaishin).
Milestone[]
EastEdge after serving Margery
Margery journeys to EastEdge's Outlaw to give him a letter about the Révolution. Inside, EastEdge works as a bartender and pours Margery a drink. She comments on the lack of other Flame Haze apart from Yurī, who EastEdge had been taking care of, and he replies that he can't leave because there would be no one left to defend New York. He asks Margery what she thinks of Yurī she informs him that she thinks Yurī doesn't have what it takes to be a Flame Haze and is strange, something EastEdge agrees on. He asks her to train Yurī, which she will until she takes care of Annaberg and Sydonay.[3]
Margery returns to EastEdge's Outlaw after her fight with Sydonay and Annaberg. He pours her a drink, then closes his eyes as Margery presents him with Yurī's broken glasses. She tells him that she didn't hesitate.[4]
Plot[]
Battle of Seireiden Arc[]
EastEdge cleans glasses at his Outlaw before sensing the Faint Heaven Quake, a cataclysm caused by the awakening of the Snake of the Festival's true body.[5]
Final Battle of Misaki City Arc[]
EastEdge as Sale activates an insignia
Margery eventually returns to EastEdge's Outlaw, this time with Sale and Keisaku. EastEdge cleans cups as Margery and Sale look at an Unrestricted Spell insignia. Later, more Flame Haze arrive, namely Shana, Chiara, SouthValley, WestShore, Wilhelmina and Khamsin. Shana tells them all that she will attack Bal Masqué's headquarters. The three members of the Four Gods of Earth explain that they will decide to help if what the God of Creation is doing is wrong and will stop the Denizens from causing a great catastrophe. Shana then tells them CenterHill's message; that the decision to fight isn't wrong, making up the Four Gods' minds to go with her.[6]
EastEdge and the other Flame Haze at Shana and Alastor's meeting
EastEdge and the other Flame Haze attend a meeting headed by Alastor and Shana, where Alastor concludes that he will condemn Bal Masqué for their sins. Later, EastEdge appears in Misaki City, walking down a main street and confronting an army of Denizens before attacking them with his starry skies. He moves forward again after having defeated the army, stepping on and destroying an incinerated Denizen's body.[7]
As another army approaches, EastEdge uses more meteors to dispel them. He closes his eyes as he lets them fall wildly onto the army.[8]
EastEdge and Ribesal clashing
EastEdge hears Shana use Shinpan to explain to the Snake of the Festival and to the Flame Haze her new law for Xanadu; that humans can't be eaten by Denizens, before walking forward. Later, Ribesal approaches him, saying he doesn't understand why EastEdge is killing Denizens. Quetzalcóatl responds that they will leave and Ribesal will search for a new sanctuary. Then, Ribesal attacks, causing EastEdge to defend with his meteors. After the exchange, EastEdge is surrounded by more Denizens, which he dispatches with his starry skies. He tells Ribesal that he killed them because they eat humans, and that Xanadu will be created, with Ribesal being an emissary of the past that no longer eat humans. EastEdge approaches Ribesal, causing him to become angered. The two clash again, before EastEdge pushes Ribesal back and announces the end of an era for Crimson Denizens.[9]
EastEdge and Ribesal clash, but are repelled from each other by an explosion from the impact of their blows.[10]
WestShore, SouthValley and EastEdge watching as Khamsin passes away
EastEdge, along with everyone else in the area, senses Rofocale performing Shōhi Ginsei and listens to Shaher, the God of Guidance, talking about the Heir to Both Worlds. Later, with Xanadu created and the majority of Bal Masqué already having departed for the new world, EastEdge and the rest of the Flame Haze gather around the dying Khamsin. They watch on as he passes away.[11]
EastEdge and the other Flame Haze watch as Kazumi passes the newly-born Justus to Wilhelmina. After Sale and Chiara arrive, Rebecca Reed meets up with the group on board the Tendōkyū. EastEdge then states that he, SouthValley and WestShore will lead the one-thousand, two-hundred and twenty-five Flame Haze on Tendōkyū to Xanadu. The three then fly into the path that leads to Xanadu and are converted into light.[12]

EastEdge has been proven to be extremely strong, being able to push back Ribesal, who is strong in his own right, when the two connected their punches.[9] EastEdge enters Xanadu by flying upwards towards the tunnel which leads to the new world.[12]
Unrestricted Spells[]
Meteors summoned by EastEdge
Query of the Night (夜の問い Yoru no Toi): EastEdge has the unique Unrestricted Spell to condense the nearby light and create starry skies. From within it, he can summon a celadon-colored rain of meteors which can easily obliterate enemies or an entire army, with their remaining Power of Existence being automatically change into actual flame which blazes until it burns out.[7] EastEdge can also form starry skies around his body, allowing him to create the meteors in an orb-like form in his hand, which he can shoot at enemies.[9]
