Dorel Kubelík (ドレル・クーベリック Doreru Kūberikku) was a veteran Flame Haze who held the title "Performer of Depressing Dreams" (愁夢の吹き手 Shūmu no Fukite) and was one of the revolutionary leaders of Outlaw. He was the very first Flame Haze to gain fame for something other than combat.[1] Dorel was contracted to a female Crimson Lord named Halphas with a walking stick as a Divine Vessel.
Appearance[]
Dorel was a diminutive elderly man wearing an oversized frock coat. He had emerald green eyes, an aquiline nose, white hair, and a face sharply etched with wrinkles. He was considered a young Flame Haze who had been in a contract for only about 200 years despite his outer appearance being older than other Flame Haze. Thus, he was nicknamed "young oldster" (若き御老体 Wakaki Gorōtai) by Sydonay.
In the anime, he was depicted as having light brown hair.

Background[]
Dorel was of Czech descent.[1]
He made a contract to Halphas 200 years prior to the main story for a revenge, like typical Flame Haze. But after he had succeeded in taking his personal revenge, he remained as a Flame Haze to help others to accomplish theirs too; by repurposing the existing Outlaw with his personal knowledge when he was a human, Dorel taught how to establish an organization and how to manage them. Outlaw became the place where information are shared and supports are done to assist Flame Haze. Because of his endeavor, it becomes easier for Flame Haze to avenge their loved ones and fight Crimson Denizens in order to protect the balance of both worlds.[2]
Dorel conducted his Outlaw, the Dorel Party (ドレル・パーティー Doreru Pātī) with assistance of his group of staff, the Kubelík's Orchestra (クーベリックのオーケストラ Kūberikku no Ōkesutora). For the past two centuries, the Dorel Party had been a cornerstone that supported Flame Haze activities, especially in Europe. It served as the central hub and the European major Outlaw branch that managed both Outlaw's coordination and finances throughout the world.
Plot[]
Dorel and his Outlaw had survived five assaults made by Bal Masqué for the past 200 years. Equipped with sufficient defenses and personnel, they had given even Sydonay some troubles hunting them.
However, Dorel and his personnel finally met their end when the Grand Order was carried out. Sydonay, now allowed to wield his personal Treasure Tool Shintetsu Nyoi, launched a surprise attack on Dorel Party; this resulted in Dorel Party's complete destruction from Sydonay and his spear's initial attack which killed all its members, including humans, instantly. Dorel, narrowly escaped the collapsed building, persuaded Halphas to return to Crimson Realm and never manifested herself to fight Sydonay after he died. Dorel used his illusion power against the General in vain, and was killed by him shortly after that.
In the anime, Dorel was killed along with his staff from Sydonay's initial attack without the chance to fight back.
Relationships[]
Halphas[]
Dorel and Halphas have a relationship resembling that of a grandfather and granddaughter.
Powers and Abilities[]
His powers were used mainly to create illusions and he is said to be non-combatant. This was demonstrated during his battle with Sydonay when he created multiple replicas of himself, but this was not effective against Bal Masqué's General.
Though as a combatant he was limited, even pitiful among the generally combat-worthy Flame Haze, Dorel's true value lie his exceptional abilities as a leader, administrator and organizer. Under his leadership, Outlaw became a highly effective apparatus supporting Flame Haze activities. When Sydonay killed him, Outlaw literally died with him; the organization immediately went into a state of chaos and remained paralyzed ever since until it was led under Sophie Sawallisch during the Second Great War.

- His surname is a homage to the Kubelík families which consists of Jan Kubelík, a Czech violinist and composer, and Rafael Kubelík, a Czech composer and conductor.
- Dorel is referred by Margery Daw as "Von Kubelík", hinting his nobility before becoming a Flame Haze.
- The author matches Dorel's appearance with Carl Adolph Schuricht's: eagle nose and walking with a stick. This is based on this memorial writing written by Dorel Handman in 1965.
- Dorel appears in Shakugan no Shana Second Episode 17. He has no dialogue; only a groan was heard during Sydonay's coming attack. It was later revealed in the DVD's audio commentary that Takayuki Kondou, Eita Tanaka's voice actor, did the sound.
