The Black Misudare (黒き御簾 Kuroki Misudare?), or Black Bamboo Blinds, is the pitch-black domain created as the final step for the God of Creation's Divine Summoning, Saiki Reisō.[1]

Background[]

After the Priestess Hecate lightly taps the Leader's floating throne with Trigon, the heavy throne falls to the Shrine's floor as light as feather, then it begins to sink into the floor with making any sound or ripples. From the final point where it sinks, blackness spreads around. The floor that once reflected everything like a black crystal gets consumed by the expanding blackness.[2]

The blackness engulfs every beings in the domain and the air makes a creaking sound and becomes heavier (similar to the Crimson Curtain). For Kazumi Yoshida, a normal human who is presented at the ritual at Misaki City, she cannot even scream or move an inch of her body; she has a feeling of the terror of drowning in the depths of the sea.[3]

A few seconds after that, at the feet of the those present at the Shrine, their "shadows" breaks through the blackness in the form of silver lights. Then the heaviness in the air vanishes.[4] The silver "shadows" are actually not shadow, but rather the Projection of Existence (存在の投射 Sonzai no Tōsha?) of those within the domain. This is the process of selection; should one's projection wavers means they have been chosen as a sacrifice necessary for the Divine Summoning. Despite it being called the selection, it is always the Priestess who would become the sacrifice.

Hecate's shadow, which appears bigger than everyone else's, and its outline is like a boundary between liquids of different densities where black and silver mingled and swirled together; it looks as if it could be swallowed by the blackness at any moment and disappear entirely.[4] This designates the shadow of the one who would become the sacrifice.

Hecate then proceeds to become the World Egg (in case of creating Xanadu). However, her shadow remains where it first emerged.[5] Even if she is sacrificed here and disappears, she will eventually be reborn. After granting the wish, the God of Creation will enter a long slumber proportional to the size of the wish he granted. During the God’s slumber, the Priestess will be reborn when there is a new Crimson Denizens' wish.[6] The General will be reborn to protect her, and the Mediator will arrange all necessaries for the next time of their Leader's awakening.
