The Banner (旗標 Hatajirushi ) is the name given to Bel-Peol’s right eye that she has detached from herself and gave it to her master, the Snake of the Festival, at the moment before his banishment into the Rift Between Both Worlds.[1]
This Banner becomes the very element that fundamentally overturns the effects of the secret method Eternal Pitfall, making it the catalyst for the Crimson God of Creation's return to this world.[2]
Background[]
During the battle three thousands years ago, Bel-Peol entrusted her right eye to the Snake of the Festival, just before Eternal Pitfall sent him into the Rift Between Both Worlds.[1] After creating the Sanctuary where he fell into a slumber, the Banner was embedded at the center of the wall made of bronze known as the Divine Bed (神床 Kamudoko ).[3]
The Banner is used as a guiding compass to accurately deliver the Psalm of the Grand Order created by the Snake of the Festival to its recipient, Hecate. This leads to the construction of the intended substitute body for him to wield his power in this world while his body was sealed.[1][4] She also uses this resonance with the Banner to guide the God of Creation's chosen substitute body through the Path of Pilgrimage back to his true body inside the Sanctuary within the Rift Between Both Worlds.
The Banner is also used as the overseer of the God of Creation's true body; it put his body into a dormancy, leaving only his mental activity functional to deliver the Psalm of the Grand Order and create the Path of Pilgrimage. His physical body took the form of a black snake skeleton partly visible on the Divine Bed within the Sanctuary.[2]
Plot[]

The Banner finished its purpose and returned to Bel-Peol
After entering the Path of Pilgrimage via the Divine Gate, the resonance with the Banner was used by Hecate to lead Yūji Sakai, the Trinity, Dantalion, Domino and Rofocale to the Sanctuary without getting lost.
At the Divine Bed, the Banner was situated at the center, waiting for its master's return.[3] Bel-Peol then activated the Banner by meeting its gaze with her remaining eyes to awaken the black snake skeleton. With the Psalm of the Grand Order cast on it, the Snake of the Festival's skeletal body returned to its rejuvenated appearance. Fulfilling its role, the Banner finally returned to her after thousands of years of service.[2]
