Amphitheater (アンフィシアター Anfishiatā) is a short story published in Dengeki Bunko Magazine to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Shakugan no Shana light novel series. The story is set 2 years after the creation of Xanadu.

Summary[]
A certain Crimson Denizen named Guita is being hunted by Yūji Sakai. This Denizen is a member of an organization simply known as "Rut" which its members are gathering around a country town named Tomozoe. Yuji destroys him when Guita declines to reveal their organization's grand plan. Meanwhile, Shana is searching around the city as a student in the town's school. Yuji meets up with her, which makes her classmates surprised as she didn't deny about him being her boyfriend.
Yuji and Shana then discover that "Rut" is actually a group of Denizens who once were assisted or helped by "Seeking Researcher" Dantalion in the past, whether on his whim or not. They followed him, calling themselves his "disciples" and each other's as "colleagues".
Rut's current ringleader, Cerebus, plans to open the gate to the Rift Between Both Worlds and use one of Dantalion's Crystallization of Self-Research, Messenger's Dagger, to lead the Crimson Lord back to Xanadu, because they believed Dantalion was still alive.
The crudely built Divine Gate is activated by Cerebus's spell which shocks Yuji and Shana who don't want the Professor to return by any means. They easily destroy all members of Rut including Cerebus, but Divine Gate won't close itself with just the spellcaster's death. Yuji uses his Grammatica to quickly examine the spell from an ember of Cerebus' existence. While they are on the verge of being dragged into the Rift through the Gate, Yuji manages to create a spell to neutralize and close the Divine Gate. Just before the gate closes, Shana senses someone's existence from the other side of the gate and then everything goes back to normal.
Shana and Yuji were leaving the town. Shana just casually spoke about the Chorde (Treasure Tools that were with both Shana and Margery back on Earth) having a faint reaction and Yuji wonders if he could someday still use "Dragon Tail" and "The Silver".
They continue their journey while talking unanimously, they walk forward on the endless path they've chosen. Step by step, with certainty.
Continuously walking without ending,
overlaying memories of days passed.
In order to change the future of this existing world.

- Amphitheater was the short story that was announced to be in the works during the anime series' 10th anniversary event on December 5, 2015. The colored illustration by Noizi Itō for Amphitheater was given out to people who attended the event as an illustration card.
