Aeria (
Appearance[]
In the novel, Aeria appeared as shields made of glass that fly through the air. In Eternal Song they were depicted as vertically long, leaf-shaped octahedrals.
Background[]
Aeria were called "shields made for attack".[1] Merihim used Aeria to reflect his Rainbow's Heaven Sword at opponents if they evaded it. They were considered to be a part of Merihim himself[2], as he could make them fly in order to take full advantage of his attack.
Plot[]
Aeria were a big contributor to the Töten Glocke's air superiority during the height of their power. During the battle for the Nachtigall, they were thought to be completely annihilated[2] by Mathilde Saint-Omer.[3]
In the Final Battle at Brocken, Molech reminisced on all of the Töten Glocke strategies that incorporated the Aeria.[4] It was later revealed that Merihim was still having Aeria left which he used it to attack Mathilde by surprise. Although, it was not revealed there were Aeria that actually survived the previous battle, or Merihim created more of them later and hid them until a perfect moment to use them.[1]
The fate of these remaining Aeria after the final battle was not explained. However, considering Merihim leaving with Alastor and Wilhelmina Carmel on the Tendōkyū right after the Great War ended, these Aeria would eventually disappeared, as all Rinne had to maintain their existences by receiving constant replenishment of Power of Existence from their master.
Trivia[]
- Aeria, or Aeriae Potestates ("Aerial Powers"), are from Enochian lore and of the sixth order of demons that fall under the dominion of Prince Merizim (or Merihim). They are considered to be a type of Aerial Devil and have the ability to cause storms at sea, and the thunder and lightning they create cause pestilence. They are furious by nature and constantly raging in the air.
