ASCII Media Works, Inc. (株式会社アスキー・メディアワークス Kabushiki kaisha Asukī Media Wākusu ) is the Japanese publishing company responsible for the publishing of the Shakugan no Shana light novel series and manga. The company is a part of the Kadokawa Group and was formed as a result of a merger between ASCII and MediaWorks where MediaWorks legally absorbed ASCII. Publishing rights for Shakugan no Shana then passed on from MediaWorks to ASCII Media Works.[1][2]
The company publishes several magazines, most notably ones from their Dengeki (電撃 electric shock ) brand of magazines, such as their light novel publishing imprint, Dengeki Bunko and manga magazines Dengeki Daioh and Dengeki Maoh.
As MediaWorks, the company was responsible for the publishing of the Shakugan no Shana video games for the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.
